ABOUT US

Makestuff Limited was born in 1996 with the ethos of being open to deliver to a broad spectrum of clientele and provide not only bespoke finished work but when called upon to collaborate in the art direction and  development of a concept through to realization.

I felt (and still feel) that Makestuff was to be an intimate company dealing with big name clients and that, when briefed, the client understand that I will be hands-on, thus creative information is not diluted or lost down the line.

Makestuff works designing and constructing one-off window and point-of-sale displays (over four and a half thousand to date!)  Retail clients include Selfridges, Liberty, John Lewis, Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Stone Island, Fortnum & Mason, Bentalls, and Brown Thomas (to name but a few!)

Makestuff collaborates with PR companies, advertising and design agencies on company and product launches, exhibitions and direct action publicity events. Clients include The British Museum, Freud Communications, Pitch PR, Mischief, Panavision, Christian Aid and Kensington Palace.

Occasional excursions into moving image have led us to work with MTV, Nickelodeon, Channel 4 and E4, for whom I have art directed promos and constructed sets.

Makestuff indulges in collaborating and building pieces for photographers on editorial work for the likes of Grazia, Heat, i-D and collaborate with film directors on short films/animations and music videos.

I find having worked, and continuing to work, across a wide and varied spectrum of media enables me to keep my concept design ideas fresh and also enables creative and flexible communication between myself and the client as to the realistic culminations of projects that are always dependent on cost, time and client identity.
